Homelessness to HomeownershipHome4GoodSupportive services are provided that assist homeless households to increase homeownership opportunities through Habitat for Humanity of Evansville’s program. Aurora’s Housing Specialist educates, empowers, and guides families toward rising out of homelessness and settling into homeownership. Her office is at Habitat's office at 1401 N. Fares Ave. Permanent Supportive HousingShelter Plus CareShelter Plus Care is a federal program designed to provide rental subsidies and supportive services to individuals with disabilities who are homeless, primarily those with chronic mental illness, substance abuse, and HIV/AIDS. Partners include Southwestern Behavioral Healthcare and AIDS Resources Group, as well as area landlords. Aurora has a Housing Specialist, Patty Pyle, who connects the clients of partners with landlords who are willing to work with this type of housing. **If you are a landlord with efficiency apartments and have an interest in learning more about how you can help house people who have been homeless, contact Patty at 812.428.3246 x 33 or patpyle@auroraevansville.org.** New StartNew Start is a permanent supportive housing program for families and individuals with disabilities who are homeless. New Start utilizes scattered sites for rental housing with rent assistance. To be eligible, an Aurora or Lucas Place client must have a disability, be homeless as defined by HUD guidelines, have the ability to function independently, have the need for supportive services, and be willing to pay 30% of income toward service fees. The housing is administrated by ECHO Housing Corporation in partnership with Aurora. Emergency Housing ProgramLinking families who are homeless with housing, case management services, and a positive support system. All components are blended to decrease the probability of becoming homeless again. This program serves as a pilot program in partnership with Compassionate Connections. |
